As part of its realignment towards the leisure and vacation hotel industry, arcona sold its city hotels at the beginning of 2019. The remaining six hotels are located in established vacation destinations such as Rügen, Sylt and Usedom. The well-known Hotel Elephant Weimar and the Schloss Teschow golf club are also part of arcona's portfolio.
Barefoot Hotels will be a new business segment in the future. In 2018, arcona signed a long-term contract with Barefoot founder Til Schweiger for the worldwide implementation of the concept as a licensee. Accordingly, arcona intends to open further Barefoot Hotels at prominent destinations in the coming years. The shareholders of arcona are Alexander Winter and Treugast founder Stephan Gerhard. The company is based in the listed Zeeck'sche Villa designed by architect Paul Korff in Rostock.
Alexander Winter
Alexander Winter has been the managing partner since the management buy-out in 2008. From 2001 to 2008, he was CFO and a member of the Management Board of Arkona AG. A qualified hotel manager, he has held management positions in hotel companies in the Rahe Group since 1995. He has many years of experience in both the luxury and modern city hotel industry. He is also well versed in the lifestyle resort hotel industry thanks to the development of a-rosa Resorts at the time.
Stephan Gerhard
Stephan Gerhard is President and Chairman of the Board of the TREUGAST Solutions Group. The qualified hotel manager and business economist has been working as a consultant for over thirty years. Stephan Gerhard also holds shares in other hotel and catering companies such as 25hours Hotels.
