Rostock, 12.05.2022 - Eight traditional and highly individual hotels, including the legendary Autograph Collection Hotel Elephant Weimar and the Romantik Hotel auf der Wartburg: How do they fit under a common umbrella brand that can be a driver of development? Together with the Berlin agency Müller-Valentini, arcona has been working intensively on this question.

49-year-old Paul Schwaiger began his professional career by training as a hospitality, hotel and tourism manager in Upper Austria. He then went to Australia, the USA, the Dominican Republic, Spain and Mexico as a trainee and in various other positions, where he perfected his language skills in English and Spanish. Schwaiger then managed hotels in Germany and Austria. From 2013, he was Director Operations at the RIMC Hotel Group in Vienna, where his responsibilities included supporting hotel managers and project development. From 2016 to 2021, he advised small and medium-sized, privately managed hotel operators as Managing Director of PS Hotelconsulting. Most recently, he led the 22 hotels of Amedia Hotels in Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic through the Corona period for two years.
"I am delighted to be returning to my home in Upper Austria and am very much looking forward to the exciting task of managing the new Triforêt Alpine Resort in Hinterstoder. Hinterstoder in the Pyhrn-Priel region is well developed for tourism, but not overcrowded. The natural backdrop is impressive and the many possible attractions will provide guests of the new hotel with an unforgettable vacation in both summer and winter. I am delighted to become part of the arcona family," says Paul Schwaiger.
"We are very happy to have found an experienced director for our new Alpine project. Paul Schwaiger brings both international resort experience and a high level of knowledge of the local conditions and will certainly make the start with the Triforêt alpin.resort easy for us," says Alexander Winter, Managing Partner of arcona Hotels & Resorts.
In winter, Hinterstoder is considered to have guaranteed snow. 40 kilometers of groomed slopes at an altitude of around 2,000 m promise a variety of skiing fun. Those who prefer cross-country skiing, snowshoe tours or tobogganing can also let off steam to their heart's content. Hinterstoder is also an interesting vacation destination in summer: a network of well-marked hiking trails leads into idyllic valleys and up to magnificent panoramic peaks, with rustic huts to stop off at along the way - and the crystal-clear mountain lake for a dip. Mountain bikers and paragliders also get their money's worth.

Founded in 2008, arcona Hotels & Resorts, based in Rostock, is a company specializing in the operation and development of hotels. As part of its reorientation towards the leisure and vacation hotel industry, arcona sold its city hotels at the beginning of 2019. The remaining six hotels are located in established vacation destinations such as Rügen, Sylt and Kitzbühel. The well-known Hotel Elephant Weimar, the traditional Romantik Hotel auf der Wartburg and the Schloss Teschow golf club are also part of arcona's portfolio. Barefoot Hotels will be a new business segment in the future. In 2018, arcona signed a long-term contract with Barefoot founder Til Schweiger for the worldwide implementation of the concept as a licensee. Accordingly, arcona intends to open further Barefoot Hotels at prominent destinations in the coming years. The shareholders of arcona are Alexander Winter and Treugast founder Prof. Stephan Gerhard. The company is based in the listed Zeek'sche Villa designed by architect Paul Korff in Rostock. Further images and information can be found at www.arcona.de
