Rostock, 12.05.2022 - Eight traditional and highly individual hotels, including the legendary Autograph Collection Hotel Elephant Weimar and the Romantik Hotel auf der Wartburg: How do they fit under a common umbrella brand that can be a driver of development? Together with the Berlin agency Müller-Valentini, arcona has been working intensively on this question.

Arcona Managing Director Alexander Winter explains: "Thanks to digitalization, more and more people are flexible in terms of time and location and go to work wherever it is most convenient. For many, the transition between work and private life has long been fluid. We are responding to this new demand with an offer that enables co-working and workation at our dream locations between Sylt and Mallorca."
Project Bay's offer is aimed at anyone who wants to drive their projects forward directly by the sea, in the Alps or at other vacation destinations - for example digital nomads, freelancers, start-up entrepreneurs and creatives, but also employees of forward-thinking companies. "We want to offer an innovative solution that allows people to work on their projects while surrounded by the beauty of a bay or the mountains," says Project Bay co-founder and CEO Hannes Trettin. Employers can also score points in the competition for employees with a workation as an incentive. A positive side effect is that even supposedly structurally weak regions can become winners of digitalization - and hotels can also increase their occupancy rates in the low season. A win-win situation in other words.
Located directly by the sea, the arcona Hotels & Resorts on Sylt, Rügen and in Heringsdorf promise relaxed working hours with lunch on the terrace and sundowners on the beach. In the cooler months of the year, barefoot Mallorca beckons with mild temperatures and southern flair. But in the cultural and student city of Weimar, at the legendary Wartburg Castle, in glamorous Kitzbühel or in the midst of the impressive mountains of Upper Austria, work and enjoyment of nature can also be seamlessly combined during a workation. This benefits not only motivation and creativity, but also health and well-being.
Bookings are made via the project-bay.de platform. Interested parties can already book at the Sylt location with immediate effect.
"After three years of gaining experience with our own workation hotel on Rügen, we are now delighted to be able to take the accommodation sector to a completely new level with arcona," says Toni Gurski (CTO) of Project Bay. "Through this cooperation, we are rethinking Work 4.0 and bundling our expertise in the areas of hospitality, community & co-working. In this way, we can make workation easily and comprehensively accessible to employees, our most important resource in the country."
Nico Gramenz (CGO) adds: "Together, Project Bay and the arcona Group are laying the foundation for the central theme of New Work. The Workation location stands for free working environments and the cultural expansion of companies. This fourth workplace can become an important element in employee recruitment and motivation. With arcona, we can raise our quality level and at the same time create many new opportunities for start-ups and corporates."
For its commitment on Rügen, Project Bay was one of two projects to win the German preliminary round of this year's European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA). Every year since 2006, the European Commission has presented the European Enterprise Promotion Awards to public authorities, economic and educational institutions and public-private partnerships that are committed to supporting entrepreneurship. The final winners of the award will be announced in November 2023.
Project Bay, based in Lietzow on the island of Rügen, has specialized in the operation and development of first-class workation and coworking spaces since it was founded in 2020. Project Bay's locations are situated in strategically selected destinations that enable both relaxation and productive work. Project Bay's portfolio is diverse and is aimed at digital nomads, freelancers and companies that value flexible working environments.
With a constant eye on the needs of the modern working world, Project Bay is continuously developing new concepts and locations. The focus is on destinations that offer both relaxation and a productive working atmosphere.
Project Bay's vision is to combine work and relaxation, creating a balance between productivity and well-being. With locations in attractive regions, Project Bay offers the ideal environment for those who want to combine the best of work and leisure.
